Around 3,000 workers from 70 UK companies will participate in the study to reduce the number of days of working holidays.
While Telefónica Spain has reported that it will allow its employees to take advantage of the four-day working day, in the UK the the largest work week quiz in the worldin which all workers involved will receive 100% of their previous salary, but with the added bonus of an extra day of freedom.
In Great Britain, for the next six months, 70 companies will adopt the new working model and workers will keep 100% of their previous salary, but get one more day.
The “experiment” is the work of the group 4-day global week, a nonprofit organization that is researching this latest effort to examine a day’s job cut. Together with them, the researchers of the University of Oxford and Cambridge and the Autonomy group, which is also campaigning for a shorter workweek.
The universities of Oxford and Cambridge participate in the study on the reduction of working week days.
Participants expect modified hours to increase productivity despite reduced hours, in line with more previous evidence. There will be fewer staff in the offices. Firstly, the work results obtained from one less day of weekly work will be taken into consideration.
It is estimated that around 3,000 workers they will participate in the experiment, which could have major implications for the country’s companies if it is successful.
In Spain, the Telefónica company opened this week a period in which workers can choose this mode after successfully completing a pilot program of 150 employees. In this way, the workers give up part of their salary equivalent to just over four hours.}
The four-day shift (32 hours) will be established in September and will be another type of work within the company. Every three months you can join the program or leave it. Telefónica is one of the first large Spanish companies to launch this mode.
