At least 11 people were killed and 26 injured, three seriously, when a bus carrying 37 passengers returning from a pilgrimage in the municipality of Tila in the southern Mexican state of Chiapas overturned the State Civil Protection System. .

Authorities in Chiapas mobilized a total of ten ambulances and a helicopter through the Civil Protection Secretariat’s Air Rescue Directorate to respond to the wounded.
Rescue and relief teams could not cope with the emergency, so citizens gathered to transport the wounded.
The cause of the accident is unknown, but it is estimated that mechanical malfunctions in the vehicle caused the driver to lose control.
