Mimi Reinhard, a Oskar Schindler’s office secretary who typed a list of Jews he saved from extermination in Nazi Germany, died in Israel. He is 107 years old.

Reinhard died early Friday morning and was buried Sunday in Herzliya, near Tel Aviv, his son confirmed. Sasha Weitmann.

He he was one of 1,200 Jews saved of German businessman Schindler after he bribed the Nazi authorities to allow him keep them workers in their factories and they were not removed from Nazi concentration camps. The story became recognized 1993 film “Schindler’s List” from director Steven Spielberg.

Reinhard was born in Vienna, Austria, in 1915, with the name of Carmen Kopel. He moved to Krakow, Poland, before the outbreak of World War II. After Nazi Germany invaded Poland in 1939, he was imprisoned in the Krakow ghetto and later sent nearby. Plaszow concentration camp in 1942.

Their knowledge of shorthand he was taken to work in the camp administrative office, where, two years later, he was instructed to type the handwritten list of Jews to be transferred to the Schindler ammunition factory.

“I didn’t know that list was an important thing.”he told an interviewer from Yad Vashem, the official Israeli institution formed in memory of Holocaust victims, in 2008. “First of all, I got the list of Schindler’s comrades, in Krakow, in his factory. I have to put them on the list ”. He later put his own name and the name of two friends.

Within Brünnlitz Labor Camp, where Schindler’s ammunition factory was located, he was employed in Schindler’s office.

He said that even though he worked in Schindler’s office at the end of the war, he had no personal contact with her.
