Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair said Thursday (11) that it will suspend traditional flights for up to 10 euros (about R$52) due to increased fuel prices due to the war in Ukraine.
Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said in an interview with “BBC Radio 4” that the conflict on Ukrainian soil is putting a heavy burden on the aviation industry.
“I don’t think there will be more flights than 10 euros. Our average fare was 40 euros last year and we will increase to 50 euros in the next five years. Our promotional prices are 1 euro, 0.99 euro cents up to 10 euros, I don’t think they will be seen for a few years” said O’Leary.
The businessman also confirmed that Ryanair “will continue to have thousands of seats at 20, 25 and 30 euros (between R$105 and R$160).
Despite the impact of the Russian occupation, O’Leary pointed out that the low-cost airline industry is likely to resist, as people are likely to continue to fly “often”.
