The actress Jennette McCurdyknown for having interpreted Sam puckett over seven seasons of “iCarly”, announced the release of her first memoir titled “I’m Glad My Mother Died”. In the work, she tells how her domineering mother forced her to become a child TV star.

“I’m Glad My Mother Died” chronicles how McCurdy became one of the stars of one of Nickelodeon’s biggest teen shows and how his mother controlled his career and every aspect of his life.

The situation at home has pushed the actress into a spiral of problems such as anxiety, shame, self-loathing, eating disorders, addiction and a series of unhealthy relationships. According to Jennett, things got even worse when her mother died of cancer shortly after she became the lead in “Sam & Cat” alongside Ariana Grande.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly magazine, McCurdy revealed what the process of photographing the cover of the work was like: “Confetti spilled from an urn seemed like a good way to capture the mood of the tragedy, but I knew I didn’t want to go so far as to throw confetti or jump into the air with a huge smile on my face, or do any other kind of thing. of body language/facial expression that may appear flippant”he explained. “Finally, I chose a facial expression that I think is sincere, a little hurt, and a little hopeful.”

“I’m Glad My Mother Died” hits US bookstores on August 9. It is not yet known if the book will be released in Brazil.

It is worth remembering that “iCarly” won a revival in 2021 by Paramount + with the original cast and Jennette decided not to play Sam Puckett again. In an episode of his podcast “Empty Inside”the actress spoke about her decision to return to the show: “My acting experience is [a de que] I’m very ashamed of the roles I’ve played in the past. I resent my career in many ways. I felt so dissatisfied with the roles I played and felt they were the most extravagant and embarrassing. I did a series between the ages of 13 and 21, and by 15, I was already feeling embarrassed.”declared the actress.
