Prosecutors are also investigating “the use of prohibited weapons,” he said.

He said the investigations were conducted by “more than 8,000” people in the field.

“We have formed a joint investigation team on the Eurojust platform (the European agency for judicial cooperation). Fourteen more countries have filed their own criminal cases regarding the aggression of the Russian Federation,” the prosecutor said.

However, inspectors cannot go to various parts of eastern Ukraine such as Mariupol, Donetsk and Lugansk.

“We don’t have access to these areas, but we can do our job,” he said. “We can question the people who were evacuated from these areas,” he said.

Venicetova concluded that investigators also used “the occupiers’ radio links and voice links” to detect possible cases.
